Membership Dues
Dues vary by membership type, but all dues are based on the calendar year (January 1-December 31).

Membership dues must be paid in full at the time election ballots are distributed in order to vote, and/or to receive the member registration rate for the annual conference.

Interest Group Dues
Membership in interest groups is $10 per group, with the exception of the Programming Interest Group which does not charge for membership.

Donations
Options for donating to WLA efforts are available on the enrollment/renewal form. Donations are made in increments of $1.

Active Membership (Voting)
Active membership is available to any individual who is or has been engaged in library work, or who is interested in library work and the objectives of WLA.

Examples of this membership category:

• Library employees:  those who are employed in library service or related activities in Wyoming.
• Trustee members:  those who are trustees or former trustees, or who are members of friends groups or foundations.
• Retired members:  those who are retired from library service or related activities.
• Persons in the business of selling goods or services to libraries.

Dues for active memberships are based on salary: $1 per $1,000 salary, plus $10 for those who make over $20,000 per year. For those who make under $20,000 per year, membership is $20 per year. 

Dues for ALA/Wyoming Joint Student memberships are $46 per year.

Intellectual Freedom Membership (Non-Voting)
This membership (new in 2022) includes special training opportunities and will support the WLA initiative for a statewide marketing and advocacy campaign to identify, cultivate, and empower library supporters.

Preferred dues are $3,000 per year. Organizations may contact the WLA President to make alternate arrangements, if needed.

Associate Membership (Non-Voting)

Associate membership is available to any individual not employed by a library who is interested in library work and the objectives of WLA. Examples of this membership category:

• Unemployed members:  temporarily not employed in a library at the time of joining or renewing.

Dues for associate memberships are $8 per year.

Institutional Membership (Non-Voting)

Dues for institutional memberships are $150 per year, which includes complimentary membership for your board.   

Life Membership (Voting)
New life memberships are no longer available. Members who currently hold this type of membership have all the privileges of an active member. Life members must pay annual dues to any interest group in which they desire membership.
