Wyoming
Library Association members who are engaged in similar work or who have
special interests in common may petition to organize themselves into
interest groups. Petitions are considered by the Executive Board
officers and should state the purpose of the proposed interest group and
be signed by no less than five WLA members who intend to become charter
members of the group.
One
interest group leader is selected by the leaders of existing interest
groups to serve on the Executive Board as their representative. The
seven interest groups with the most members each appoint one member to
the conference program subcommittee for a two-year term, staggered so
that no more than four members are replaced annually.
Each
group meets (in person or virtually) at least once per year for
continuing education, business meetings, networking, or other reasons.
Minutes will be taken for those members unable to attend meetings and an
annual report is sent to the WLA President for the annual conference.
Interest
groups may charge annual membership and/or event fees, which are held
by WLA for the group’s use. Groups may create rules for themselves as
long as they are not in conflict with WLA bylaws.
NOTE: The Reference interest group was dissolved in 2014 and the New Technologies interest group was dissolved in 2019.
