Meeting expectations is never easy, especially when expectations can be
different for each individual. With the proliferation of the Web, users
commonly expect simple discovery and intuitive delivery as part of their
experience. In addition to traditional searching, users now rely upon
the ability to socially collaborate and participate in their search
experience. This can be achieved by employing social networking tools
and by combining the power of the local library with libraries
regionally and worldwide.

This session discusses why libraries need a scaled, compelling user
environment that creates community and local value connecting to a
transparent mechanism for delivery of library resources. Today, library
patrons are forced to deal with disparate systems with multiple
interfaces and delivery mechanisms. As a result, discovery is difficult,
and users are not able to fully leverage their library's resources.

user expectation through the WorldCat Local program.
