Librarians,
Lesley Boughton and I are submitting the Wyoming Governor and
Legislature for the Library Journal Politician of the Year Award. We
believe this award would honor the outstanding work of the legislature
in providing funds for our collections. Wyoming is fortunate to have
broad support in the legislature for our libraries as evidenced by the
onetime funding in 2006, the public library endowment, and increased
funding in 2008 for the academic libraries. The award will acknowledge
our gratitude.
We are looking for letters of impact - how has the funding improved your
services, collections, and community? Letters from some of our citizens
and students would also be ideal. If you or a library patron is able to
provide a letter of support, please email the letter to me by July 10th.
If email is not possible, a hard copy will be sufficient and I will scan
and submit the pdf since this is an electronic submission.
The information on the award is below. Thank you for considering and
please let me know if you have any questions.
Politician of the Year: Is there a political figure making a difference
in your library community? The editors of LJ want to know about them and
what they've achieved for libraries in your area. Please send
nominations, including a description of the politician's efforts on
behalf of libraries, by July 14, 2008, to Ann Kim via e-mail at
akim at reedbusiness.com or by post to:
