January 8 (11-12 pm)
USCIS Civics and Citizenship Toolkit for Public Libraries (WebJunction
- Spanish Language Outreach)

Containing a range of useful materials, the Civics and Citizenship
Toolkit is the perfect resource to help your library begin or enhance a
collection for immigrants. The free collection comprises immigration and
civics publications, handbooks, guidance on product usage, and
multimedia tools. Listen to a presentation, meet, and ask questions of
the project coordinator, Carlos Muñoz-Acevedo.  Mary Jane Vanilla of the
King County Library System (WA) and Homa Naficy of the Hartford Public
Library System (CT) will join him to present the public librarian's
perspective.

January 23 (12-1 pm)
The Mark of Zotero: Two-Clicks to Citation Management (OPAL)

Zotero, designed by the Center for History and New Media at George
Mason University, is a free citation manager that works as part of the
Firefox web browser. It allows researchers to keep track of
bibliographies, notes, even copies of articles and pictures-- all within
the browser window. It integrates with several word processors to make
creating a reference or a bibliography a two-click process. Chris
Strauber, Reference and Web Services Librarian at Wofford College, will
demonstrate the program and discuss it as a possible replacement for
products like Procite and Refworks.

January 24 (12-1 pm)
Collaborating with your Community (WebJunction - Rural Library
Sustainability)

Wouldn't it be great to collaborate in 2008?  Join Bonnie McKewon,
Director of Northwest Iowa Library Service, as she presents a "Top 10"
list of ideas to reinvigorate cooperation among libraries. Ideas like
shared programming, shared staffing, board and staff development days,
countywide wikis, and more will be discussed.
