[WLA-All] Attention Technical Services Librarians and Staff: Proposals and Suggestions Needed for 2008 WLA Conference

Dear Wyoming technical services colleagues,

 

As a member-at-large of the WLA Program Council, I'd like to encourage
you to consider submitting a program proposal for this year's WLA Annual
Conference, to be held October 1-3 in Casper.  The theme of this year's
conference is "Wyoming Resolve: Fostering Accomplishment and Possibility
in WLA."  

 

 As we are well aware, there are many changes taking place in technical
services that have far-reaching implications, well beyond our
"back-room" cataloging, acquisitions, and processing operations.  For
example, have you been exploring next-generation catalog interfaces?
How do you collaborate with public services staff to improve access to
resources?  Do you have new approaches to staffing, training, and
workflow issues?  Are you concerned about the advent of Resource
Description and Access (RDA)?  

 

The 2008 WLA Conference Program Proposal Form is available at:

The proposal deadline has been extended to April 20.

 

Please note that anyone may propose a program, panel discussion, or
preconference.  Your proposal does not have to be sponsored by a WLA
section, although you may certainly pursue that option if you choose.

Maybe you'd rather not propose a program yourself, but there are topics
or speakers you'd like to see at this year's conference.  The Program
Council also welcomes suggestions for topics and/or speakers.

contact me.  The Program Council is working towards a conference that
will be stimulating and relevant to everyone, and we appreciate your
input!
