[WLA-All] WLA's successful spring meeting

WOW! 
We had a great spring meeting in Casper.
If you missed it, I'm sorry you did.

We had over 100 people registered from all types of libraries for one or both of the two days this last weekend.
That's about 30 more than registered for the 2007 spring meeting.

I want to thank Mary Rhoads and her team, Laura Grott and the staff of the Ramkota Hotel for a successful two days.

Thanks to all who registered. You helped make this happen
AND
thanks to Library boards, directors, managers, supervisors and peer staff who either okayed attendance or handled the burden of being short-staffed while members attended the spring meeting.
I know a couple of libraries that closed for a time to allow staff to participate.

Great programs, decent food, and enthusiastic attendees made this a treat.

We also have a new WLA state representative to the MPLA Executive Board.
Marcia Cheney, elected to that position last fall, has left Wyoming and taken a job in Utah.

Two well-qualified individuals stepped forward for consideration.

and 
Debbie McCarthy, University of Wyoming Libraries
Head of Technical Services

The WLA Executive Board's chose Debbie McCarthy to fill the vacancy.
Congratulations Debbie!
Debbie is registered for the ULA/MPLA conference next week and will represent WLA membership at the April 29, MPLA Executive Board meeting in Salt Lake City.

Thank you Debbie and Sue for answering the invitation to serve WLA in this special leadership position.
Debbie is a 2005 graduate of the MPLA Leadership Institute.
Both Debbie and Sue are graduates of the Wyoming Library Leadership Institute.
