Marcia Cheney, elected last fall to the MPLA rep. position on the WLA Executive Board, has taken a job in Utah and has submitted her notification.
According to WLA Bylaws (Article VIII, Section 3) "the Executive Board may appoint a qualified person to fill this position until the next Wyoming Library Association general election."
For more on the MPLA representative responsibilities see the WLA Constitution and Bylaws at:
http://wyla.org/Bylaws2005.pdf
The term for this position will end at the conclusion of the WLA annual meeting in the fall of 2010.
Since, the Executive Board will be meeting this Friday in Casper at the WLA Spring Meeting I would like the Board to make a decision then.
Please contact me ASAP and before Noon, Thursday, April 17 if you are
1) interested
2) a member of both WLA and MPLA
3) have supervisor permission
4) can serve as MPLA rep to the WLA/MPLA Executive Boards until the fall of 2010
5) attending ULA/MPLA meeting in Salt Lake City, April 30 - May 02, 2008,
NOTE: #5 is preferred but not required
I will take your volunteer request to the Board.
You are welcome to give a short paragraph about your interest in the position you like.
Don't hesitate to nudge a colleague if she or he might be a good fit for this position.
That personal "you can do this" can make a difference.
Thank you for your consideration of this important opportunity.
