The first program in the College of DuPage satellite teleconference series, "Library Challenges & Opportunities 2007," is scheduled to be broadcast on Friday, March 23, 2007, 12 noon-1:30 p.m. (Eastern Time).
Titled "Library Transformation: Making it Happen," this telecast features Richard M. Dougherty, of Dougherty and Associates, and Leslie Burger, Director of the Princeton Public Library in Princeton, New Jersey. As President of ALA, she is well-versed in library issues in an era of change. They will be joined by noted librarians to discuss library transformation, not as an abstraction or buzz word, but as something real with hard, practical things necessary to make it happen. They will spell out what needs to happen in facilities, budgets, staffing, management and leadership to make transformation a reality.
You can register for the web and satellite versions of the program by going to the BCR website: http://www.bcr.org/training/teleconferences/register.html. If you have already registered, please monitor your e-mail for a message containing the downlink coordinates.
After this broadcast, only two teleconferences remain in this season:
- Soaring to Excellence: Library 2.0 and Beyond -- "The Best of the Web" to be broadcast April 13.
- Library Challenges & Opportunities - "The Relevance of Libraries in a Digital Age," to be broadcast May 11.
Let me know if you have any questions!
