[WLA-All] Rural librarians questionnaire

Jenifer Grady is preparing for a Rural Librarian Salaries panel discussion at Annual Conference and would like answers to these questions.  Please respond directly to her - jgrady at ala.org - by Wednesday, June 13.  Thank you.
 
1.  How did you become a rural librarian - preference, choice, circumstance?
2.  What are some fundamental differences in the population served, their needs and general practice between rural, small town and city librarianship, if you've had experience in other settings?
3.  What are your feelings about the salaries of you and your colleagues?  Should they be higher?
4.  Have you heard about rural libraries that have raised salaries?  How did they do it?
