Greetings WLA Members and other readers of this message,

Most of you should have received the WLA Newsletter - Conference Edition for 2007 in the mail. If not you should have seen postings that it is available at http://wyla.org
Our WLA webmasters (Thanks Erin and Scott) have the conference website up and running at: http://conference.wyla.org

The registration form is available at all of the above. It is available in MS Word or PDF online.

Bet you found something missing: yes, the conference program guide.
That is because of my hectic spring/summer and some scheduling issues.
If you want to give anyone grief - send it my way.
The program guide is nearing completion.

Ara, our WLA president, and Laura, our Executive Secretary prepared me well with key information, suggestions and time lines to keep ahead of the curve. But ddespite their best efforts (and mine) I couldn't keep up. While I'm being honest with you, I know it doesn't help those of you who need more information for your staffing decisions (both CE opps. and coverage of your buildings), travel plans, and the transition into Wyoming Book Festival activities. For those temporary inconveniences, I am sorry.

The program descriptions will be available online no later than Aug. 3, 2007.

One key non-WLA event happening on Friday, Sept. 14:
http://governor.wy.gov/governor/press_releases/2007/June07/quarter.asp
This will be theofficial unveiling and educational program about the Wyoming quarter
at the Cheyenne Civic Center at 10 a.m. The event will include presentations by
Gov. Freudenthal and U.S. Mint Director Edmund C. Moy, among other dignitaries
and special guests. We will still have WLA programming at 10am that morning.

Please also consider the Wyoming Book Festival (WBF) in your planning.

The primary Book Festival events are on Saturday, Sept. 15
There will be some K-12 related WBF with writers working locally with kids in their schools and other locations.

WLA will be officially over Friday around 5 pm.

The Book Festival big launch will be at the Authors' Reception and Open House, Friday night, 7:30 pm at the new Laramie County library building. Out of common interests here, the WLA registration form does allow you to opt-in for this most exciting event. Many have enjoyed past WLA Wednesday evening author events. This year the event works best on Friday.

There will be about 60 writers in attendance including some who participated in WLA.
Authors that will be at the Wyoming Book Festival are listed at: http://www.wyomingbookfestival.org/authors.html

The next Wyoming Library Roundup which is off to the printers will have a detailed schedule of WBF events.

O, if you want to be a volunteer at the WBF please consider the possibilities at:

http://www.wyomingbookfestival.org/VolunteerApplication.pdf

Thank you for your patience.
This will be a great conference and book festival.
Join us in our capital Capitol city!

Stay tuned.

Brian, your WLA vice president
