Good morning. I apologize for the delay in getting this information to
you. I tried several times over the weekend to get this out, but
WorldClient was not letting me send messages. At any rate, I want to
pass along this current information from WLA Lobbyist Marian Schulz.

Some disappointing news...
The endowment legislation failed to be heard in the House Appropriations
Committee prior to Thursday's deadline. All bills had to be out of
committee by close of the session Thursday. I worked closely with the
bill sponsors all week, and was assured that the bill will be introduced
during the Budget Session next year. In addition, I was told that it
would be good to work with the Governor over the interim to have it
included in his budget recommendation. It's disheartening to have to
wait until then, especially given the level of support this legislation
has. The Appropriations Committee was working until late in the night
Thursday finalizing the compromise between the House and Senate budget
differences. Please be sure to thank your Senators and those
legislators that expressed their support to you, as we will need those
relationships in the '08 session. All my best--Marian

There you have it. It is disappointing, but never fear! We will
regather our forces and hit them next year with a "package" that will be
to the benefit of all types of Wyoming libraries--public, academic, and
State.
