Don't forget!

The new season of the College of DuPage's Soaring to Excellence
teleconference series begins next week. The first program is scheduled
for Friday, October 27. Options for participating include downlinking
the live teleconference (via satellite) at your library, viewing the
program live as a webcast, or waiting a few weeks to watch the DVD.
Details below.

Best New Technologies: Keeping Up with the Storm
Steven Bell and Aaron Schmidt
October 27th
10:00 am -11:30 am
This program will examine the challenges librarians face as we enter
the world of Web 2.0. It will explore several of the newest
technologies, investigate why librarians are adopting them and how
they're being used, and examine sensible approaches to choosing and
implementing the technology that are right for your library.

As in previous years, BCR, with assistance from state libraries in our
region, has purchased a group license that makes it possible for all
Wyoming libraries and librarians to participate in these teleconferences
at no cost. There are three ways to access the programs:

1. Register to downlink the satellite programs to either be shown at
your library at the time of the live program or to be taped for later
viewing. Just go to the BCR website and register:
http://bcr.org/training/teleconferences/index.html.

2. View the teleconference webcast from your computer either at the
time of the live program or at a time convenient to your schedule. The
programs are
archived and available on request at no charge to Wyoming libraries for
60 days. To do the webcasts, you need to register at the BCR web site
(http://bcr.org/training/teleconferences/webcasts.html. You'll also
need adequate Internet connection and Microsoft Windows Media Player.

3. Request a taped copy of the program from Wyoming State Library
(through WYLDCat). It usually takes 2-3 weeks for us to have it
available for ILL.

Let me know if you have any questions!
