Yes, things are much cleaner, foul odors removed, drywall baseboard
areas are still drying but we should be good to go for the most part
tomorrow.  Staff will be busy with checking email, checking voicemail,
rearranging things in affected areas, etc in the morning.  Phones, fax
machines, desktop computers, network connections, and the like are
fully
operational.

State Library staff are unavailable for the rest of today.
Lesley is at the Directors' retreat.

Subject: State Library update 

We appreciate the questions about our situation and all offers of
assistance. We now have verified information to share.

Sometime on Sunday afternoon our building at 516 S. Greeley Hwy was
flooded by sewer water. This was caused by a grease blockage in a main
service sewer, not the library pipes. We did not discover the damage
until Monday morning. There probably was never more than 3 or 4" of
water, but it soaked the carpet and was wicked into walls. None of the
books that are shelved were affected. We do not yet know what can be
salvaged from any boxes that were on the floor. Because this was not
clean water we will not attempt to restore anything that can be
replaced. We will work with the state risk management office to
determine any losses. 

A construction company which specializes in flood and fire damage
cleanup was called and arrived on the scence within an hour. The water
has been vacuumed up and the carpet treated with antibacterial agents.
The baseboards have been taken off and holes drilled into the walls to
test for 'wet.' The crew is now removing all wet insulation. When they
are finished, the carpet will be shampooed and, when it is determined
there are no biohazards present, the staff will return. We will be out
of the building again tomorrow and hope to return by noon on Thursday

but that is subject to review late Wednesday.

Since the cleaning crew had to move a lot of furniture and other
things
to do their work, our biggest challenge will be to straighten out the
mess! We will keep you posted when we are back.
