following FREE programs during the month of December:

December 1 (10 a.m. - 11 a.m.)
OCLC Quarterly Update (Regan Harper)

changes from OCLC across all service and product areas. This
presentation is designed for library personnel who use OCLC services
regularly and are interested in a summary of recent and upcoming OCLC

The Long Tail" and the Growing Social Nature of Information: Where are
libraries in the mix? (Heather Clark)
The Web services such as blogs and wikis, as well as recommender
services on retail sites like Amazon and Netflix, are making it easier
share information about books, music and movies that might be out of
print or out of demand. These services mine the depths of the
bibliographic world without the use of library catalogs. As users
discover more rare gems in the virtual space, what will the impact be on
the library environment? This program will examine this trend, discuss
probable impact on the library environment and how the library world can
benefit from this phenomenon.
