Ara Anderson called the meting to order @ 6:10.

Introductions were made.

There was a review of all incoming chairs:

Public Section - Becky Packer
SSLMP - Sheryl Fanning
Academic Special - Karen Lange
Paraprofessionals - Mary Gillis
Children/Young Adult - Mary Rhoads

Ara reviewed the Gillette conference and felt overall , everything went very well. There was discussion on next year's conference in Cheyenne and then future sites for WLA and how to handle conferences without such a burden on local arrangements. Casper was mentioned as a possible site for 2008, with 2009 possibly being held in Laramie, if their convention center is finished. Lalia Jagers, Laura Grott and Ara will complete the convention handbook and will be streamlining it with timetables and check off lists.

Ara indicated that this is the year the Executive Board needs to review and update the strategic plan. Ara felt strongly that we needed to work on the strength of our sections.

2007 Convention
Leslie Boughton said there were some exciting events that coincided with the 2007 convention in Cheyenne. The convention will be in conjunction with the Wyoming Book Festival (Friday/Saturday). The county library will be open and it is likely the new quarter for the state will be unveiled that week as well.

Spring Section Meetings
Mary Jayne Jordan mentioned the possibility of a joint spring session meeting. She thought that an advocacy type program may work. Finding the right time for everyone and taking into consideration prom, spring break, etc. is the challenge.

By-Laws
Ara indicated any by-laws changes will be looked at through strategic planning.

Legislative Reception
Cynthia Twing gave the dates of the legislative reception, which are set for February 8th, 2007. WLA will also have an executive board meeting that day.

The first Executive Board meeting and strategic planning session will be November 16th @ 6 p.m. in Casper. This will be a dinner/board meeting and November 17th is reserved for strategic planning, starting at 8 a.m.

Laura will work out a place to meet and will let everyone know.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Laura Grott
Acting Recording Secretary
